The magazine says the decision came from their in-depth article inside they describes as a “heartbreaking account of how a charming kid with a bright future became a monster."
Reaction has been swift and severe with many subscribers expressing disgust and surprise on Rolling Stone's Facebook page.
Some of the comments include “Jeff Bauman, who lost both legs, should be on cover," and “I am ending my subscription, who's next, George Zimmerman?? Rolling Stone is a music magazine, not the Taliban Times. "
The magazine is standing by the story and says they are not out to make Tsarnaev a hero but rather to explain his story completely.
The article will appear in the August issue and is called "Jahar's World."
