Three days into October, 14 states have recorded their highest single-day increases in COVID-19 cases.
Across the U.S., more than 7.4 million cases of coronavirus have been reported since the onset of the pandemic.
The U.S. also leads in the number of deaths associated with the virus: nearly 210,000.
Across the country, Texas, California and Florida have had the highest number of confirmed cases, with each state reporting more than 500,000 COVID-19 cases each.
All three states recorded their highest single-day increases of coronavirus cases in July. Fourteen other states also reported peak days in the month.
Since then, three states -- Hawaii, Iowa and Virginia -- reported the highest number of increases of cases in a single day in August.
Three more states -- Missouri, Oklahoma and West Virginia -- saw highest single-day numbers in September.
According to Johns Hopkins University & Medicine, the following 13 states reported the highest number of new coronavirus cases ever on Saturday alone:
Arkansas - 942 new cases
Colorado - 632 new cases
Indiana - 1,248 new cases
Kansas - 642 new cases
Kentucky - 1,036 new cases
Minnesota - 1,085 new cases
Montana - 408 new cases
Nebraska - 590 new cases
North Dakota - 433 new cases
South Dakota - 497 new cases
Utah - 1,022 new cases
Wisconsin - 2,711 new cases
Wyoming - 136 new cases
Alaska also reported the state has seen more new coronavirus cases emerge in a day in October than in any other months. On Friday, the state reported 124 new cases of the virus.
Nine states reported single-day highs in April. Four states -- Illinois, Maine, Maryland and New Hampshire -- saw single-day peaks in May.
