Police confirmed that it was one body inside the dumpster that had been set on fire, the news outlet reported.

Phoenix Police Department said that they are investigating the death as a homicide, according to KTVK. The dumpster was near a police station and state and federal courthouses.

It was also near an area called “The Zone” which is a large homeless encampment in downtown Phoenix.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released, according to KSAZ.

A manager from a business in the area told the news outlet that when he was arriving at work Tuesday morning, he saw police officers taping off the area next door and learned that investigators took security footage.

“They took our hard drive. We have cameras watching this place like crazy, so we got two camera systems, and they took [them] to clearly see what’s going on,” said Hibbard told KSAZ. “What I think I saw was two guys with something in a shopping basket went up to that trash can right there, and they tossed him in. We didn’t see him light him on fire, but I didn’t watch all the video.”

Details about the incident are unclear and remain under investigation, KTVK reported.

No suspect information has been released, according to KNXV.
