The movie company has closed a more than $400 million deal to buy the trilogy for theaters and the Peacock streaming service, The New York Times reported.

Details of the deal are expected to be released this week.

The new film series will not be a remake of the original R-rated movie that starred Ellen Burstyn as Chris MacNeil, the mother of Regan who was possessed by a demon. Regan was played by Linda Blair.

The film won two Oscars and four Golden Globes, according to IMDB.

Burstyn will return to the “Exorcist” story and will be joined by Leslie Odom Jr., Entertainment Weekly reported.

Odom Jr. will be a father whose child is possessed and is looking for help from Burstyn’s MacNeil.

The first film will debut in theaters in 2023 with the second and third installments potentially premiering on Peacock, the Times reported.

This isn’t the first time the story has been revisited. The original film had two sequels and a prequel, as well as an “Exorcist” television show starring Geena Davis, that ran on Fox for two seasons starting in 2016, Entertainment Weekly reported.
