Indiana man high on meth has gunbattle with imaginary people, police say

WOLCOTTVILLE, Ind. — An Indiana man shot up the inside of his own home over the weekend after using methamphetamine and had a gunbattle with people he hallucinated, police officials said.

Mark King, 62, of Wolcottville, is charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Goshen News. He was booked into the LaGrange County Jail on Sunday.

WANE in Fort Wayne reported that deputies went to King’s home on Sunday after getting a call about a man screaming and swinging a broom. When they arrived, King appeared to be high on drugs.

LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office officials learned that King had used meth Friday and Saturday and began to hallucinate that people were trying to break into his home, the news station reported. He fired several shots at the imaginary intruders.

King then went to a neighbor’s house and entered the garage, breaking a window with one of his guns, authorities said. It was at the neighbor’s home that he was arrested.

A search of King’s home turned up multiple bullet holes, all coming from inside the house, according to authorities.

Deputies took King to a hospital for treatment of delirium before booking him into the jail, WANE said.
