Police told WNBC that Mario Casanova jumped behind the wheel of the truck and threatened the worker inside.

The driver had left the door open while trying to attach a dumpster to the back of the truck, and skid marks were left on the ground where the dumpster was dragged, WPIX reported.

Surveillance video obtained by WNBC shows the truck driver driving down the street, dragging the dumpster and hitting parked cars. Casanova is accused of hitting trees and light poles as well as 18 parked cars in total, the station reported.

Police told WPIX that when they finally caught up to him, they had to use pepper spray to arrest him.

Some drivers woke up to find their cars were inoperable because of the damage.

“I park my car here all the time and all of a sudden I come back over here and I see my car sideways,” Michael Marino told WNBC, saying he initially thought someone had moved his car.

“I can’t drive. Two wheels. Back two wheels it’s not possible to drive,” Mizrob Bakhrov, whose minivan was damaged, told WNBC. “Today I don’t know where I can go to job. Because I need car. My baby now sick I need to go with car to hospital. I’m calling Uber.”

Casanova has a lengthy criminal record and was accused of stealing a public bus in 2016, WPIX reported.

Casanova faces several charges, including robbery and driving while intoxicated, WNBC reported.
