EASY’s Pet of the Week: Phoenix

Seeking #Furever Home

When will Phoenix (ID A649140) find her forever home?  She has been patiently waiting for months for someone to give her a chance and is getting depressed that no one ever asks to meet her.  She is one of the bigger dogs at the Humane Society of Broward County weighing just over 80 pounds, but that just means there is more of her to love.  This beauty enjoys meeting new people and got to spend some time with Jeff Martin from Easy 93.1 radio when he stopped by to say hello.  Phoenix loves to go for walks and is quite obedient, especially if yummy treats are involved.  She looks a lot like a black shepherd mix with her wavy coat and perky ears.  Phoenix will do best in a home where she is the only pet, that way you can spoil her.  Last week she spent some time behind the adoption desk and was so happy to be out of her kennel, but you could tell she is sad that she doesn’t have a family. Thanks to our friends at J.R. Dunn Jewelers, they have kindly sponsored her adoption fee. Phoenix is also available for a sleep-over to see if she is the right fit for your family.

To meet a pet at the Humane Society of Broward County fill out a pre-adoption application at www.humanebroward.com (unless you have in the past) and visit the shelter located at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312.  If you have questions call 954-989-3977 ext. 6.  The adoption center is open 7 days a week and opens daily at 11 AM.

Visit the Volunteer Page for details on how to get involved!

Adoption Ambassador: If you can provide a temporary home for a large-breed dog, become an Adoption Ambassador for the Humane Society of Broward County. Ambassadors help market the pet through your network of friends and associates, while giving the pet a vacation from the shelter environment. Sometimes a different setting is all that is needed to help our furry friends find their forever home.

Spay/Neuter Services: Those surgeries for the public’s pets have been suspended at this time.

Vaccine Clinic: Is open Monday – Friday, 9 AM – 4:30 PM credit cards only, no cash. This is a walk-in service and you may experience a wait of up to an hour. All cats must be in carriers and dogs on a leash at all times. If you have a retractable leash, please keep it short.

Animal Admissions: Opens at 8 AM daily and closes at 6:30 Monday – Saturday and 5:30 on Sunday.

Foster Care: If you can provide a foster home for a cat or large-breed dog, please visit the HSBC website and complete a foster application. It can be found by clicking the COVID-19 banner.

The Humane Society of Broward County is always in need of new or gently used towels and washcloths. (They don’t need any blankets or pillows.) Donations can be dropped off any day outside of the admission’s door located at the far west side of the building.

Or you can check out the Humane Society’s Amazon.com Wish List and have something sent directly to the shelter!
