Hits’ Furry Friend of the Week: Maddie!

Seeking #Furever Home

Looking to make the difference in the life of dog that so desperately needs lots of TLC?  If you said “yes” than Maddie (ID A656002) would love to meet you.  She is just 5 months old and was found with some other pups abandoned in a box at the steps of a shelter in the Cayman Islands.  She, and her buddy Albie, would love to find a home where they can stay together.  He is a bit more outgoing than Maddie, but both will need a patient owner who can shower them with love.  They never had toys to play with or a soft bed to curl up into until they got to the shelter.  Now they are looking for one last thing, a family to love.  If your ready to adopt, stop by…you may just find your next family member.

The Humane Society of Broward County is located at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, a block west of I95.  Be sure to complete a pre-adoption application at www.humanebroward.com prior to visiting.  Appointments are not necessary, and the adoption department opens daily at 11 a.m.  For questions, call 954-989-3977 ext. 6.  The shelter dogs are in need of durable chew toys, soft treats, and the felines would love some fun toys too.  You can find our wish lists on Amazon and Chewy.”

Adoption Ambassador: If you can provide a temporary home for a large-breed dog, become an Adoption Ambassador for the Humane Society of Broward County. Ambassadors help market the pet through your network of friends and associates, while giving the pet a vacation from the shelter environment. Sometimes a different setting is all that is needed to help our furry friends find their forever home.

Spay/Neuter Services: Those surgeries for the public’s pets have been suspended at this time.

Vaccine Clinic: Is open Monday – Friday, 9 AM – 4:30 PM credit cards only, no cash. This is a walk-in service and you may experience a wait of up to an hour. All cats must be in carriers and dogs on a leash at all times. If you have a retractable leash, please keep it short.

Animal Admissions: Opens at 8 AM daily and closes at 6:30 Monday – Saturday and 5:30 on Sunday.

Foster Care: If you can provide a foster home for a cat or large-breed dog, please visit the HSBC website and complete a foster application. It can be found by clicking the COVID-19 banner.

The Humane Society of Broward County is always in need of new or gently used towels and washcloths. (They don’t need any blankets or pillows.) Donations can be dropped off any day outside of the admission’s door located at the far west side of the building.

Or you can check out the Humane Society’s Amazon.com Wish List and have something sent directly to the shelter!
